If muscular tension in the face and neck muscles are the (main) cause for wrinkles, these can be reduced very effectively with botulinum active substance.
The area which requires wrinkle treatment with botulinum toxin (often just called “Botox”) is the upper face. Good results of wrinkle treatment with botulinum toxin can be achieved with wrinkles around the eyes (“crow’s feet”). Other areas of application for botulinum toxin in aesthetic medicine are lower eyelid wrinkles, smoker’s wrinkles above the lips and chin wrinkles. Furthermore, it is possible to slightly raise the eyebrows or to narrow the shape of the face by treating a very pronounced masticatory muscle in the cheek area.
Even protruding muscle strands on the neck (‘turkey neck’) can be reduced with botulinum toxin. In addition, excessive sweating e.g. under the armpits with botulinum toxin, can be successfully reduced.
Injections are made into the skin or the overactive muscle as required. The effect occurs after approx. 3-5 days, the duration is approx. 3-4 months.
Tolerability is very good. With the smallest amounts of botulinum active substance, the entire face can also be treated, which leads to relaxation of the entire facial musculature (MesoBotox).
